While the wing nuts of the far right are busy claiming that yesterday's earthquake in central Virginia - and I'm sure they say the same if Hurricane Irene scores a major hit to Tidewater - is because of gays and "society's acceptance of homosexuality,"one west coast reader had a different spin on the situation:
Earthquake! Flood! Fire! What's next? Is the Almighty rising up against Virginia, especially Eric Cantor?!
Earthquake! Flood! Fire! What's next? Is the Almighty rising up against Virginia, especially Eric Cantor?!
Seriously, I do not believe that God works in such ways, but the reader has a point in that Governor Bob "Taliban Bob" McDonnell, Ken "Kookinelli" Cuccinelli, Del. Bob Marshall and Eric Cantor all act much like the Pharisees in the Gospels and utterly ignore teaching such as love of neighbor, caring for the sick, the poor and the homeless, and wrap themselves in self-satisfied piety and self-congratulation.
And while we're counting modern day Pharisees, let's not forget Pat Robertson who is based in Virginia Beach and all the folks at Liberty University and Liberty Counsel in Lynchburg, Virginia.
