Last November I had the distinct pleasure of meeting Forth Worth Councilman Joel Burns (pictured at left) at the NGLCC national dinner in Washington, D.C. Burns, who discussed being gay and the need to speak out after a wave of gay teen suicides, was an honoree at the gala event. My sincere condolences to Joel and his entire family for their loss. These highlights are from the Fort Worth Star-Telegram:
*
The brother of Fort Worth council member Joel Burns has died from injuries he suffered in a Saturday traffic accident in Erath County.
*
Cody Burns, 27, of Stephenville, was killed on a dirt road in southeast Erath County when he lost control of his pickup as he attempted to make a curve, Joel Burns said Sunday. The truck flipped a few times, he said.
