Congressional Republicans Shamelessly Prostitute Themselves to Christofascists

The self-prostitution to Christofascists that I saw Republican elected officials engage in prior my leaving the GOP years ago pales in comparison to what now passes for normal within the party.  The irony, of course, is that over time those elected officials who most loudly proclaim their support of "Christian values"  and maintain the most anti-LGBT voting records are the same folks that one sees being arrested for child porn or sexual misbehavior with underage boys as happened recently with a strident "family values" state level Republican. As Right Wing Watch reports, two dozen Congressional Republicans took self-prostitution to new lengths when they joined Religious Right activists in Washington, D.C., for the annual “Washington – A Man of Prayer” event, held in Statuary Hall inside the U.S. Capitol.  Rep. Randy Weber of Texas literally broke into crocodile tears and begged God to forgive this nation for the “sin” of marriage equality in an effort no doubt to win Christofascist votes.  Here are highlights:

Last night, nearly two dozen members of Congress joined Religious Right activists in Washington, D.C., for the annual “Washington – A Man of Prayer” event, held in Statuary Hall inside the U.S. Capitol.

Organized by The Jefferson Gathering, which is a project of right-wing pastor Jim Garlow’s Skyline Church in California, the prayer event was kicked off by Speaker of the House Paul Ryan while Sen. Steve Daines, R-Mont., and Rep. Tim Walberg, R-Mich., served as honorary hosts.

Over the course of an hour and a half, 20 different members of Congress took to the podium to lead the gathering in prayer, including Rep. Randy Weber of Texas, who repeatedly choked up while begging God to forgive this nation for the “sins” of legal abortion and marriage equality.

Modifying the Lord’s Prayer to declare that “thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth here in the halls of Congress,” Weber confessed the “sins our nation has been so emboldened to embark upon” and pleaded with God to forgive us.

“We have endeavored to try and kick your word out of public schools,” Weber said. “Father, we have endeavored to take the Bible out of classrooms, the Ten Commandments off the walls. Oh, Lord, forgive us. Father, we think we’re so smart, we have replaced your word and your precepts with drug-sniffing dogs, with metal detectors, with uniformed police officers in our schools. Oh, Lord, forgive us.”

“Father, we have trampled on your holy institution of holy matrimony and tried to rewrite what it is and we’ve called it an alternate lifestyle,” Weber continued, his voice cracking. “Father, oh Father, please forgive us.”

“Lord, we have gone to killing the most innocent amongst us,” he wept. “Your servant Moses warned in Deuteronomy 19 for us to choose life so that we and all our descendants might live. Father, we’re killing our descendants and we’re calling it a choice. Oh, God in heaven, forgive us, please.”

Many of these same Republicans, however, despite last night's performance show their real view of true Christian values as they push legislation that will thrown millions off of health insurance, cut social safety net programs, take from the needy to give to the wealthy, and lie with abandon.  The biblical Pharisees were upstanding in comparison.  These Republicans are yet another reason that I do not want the label "Christian" attached to me in any way.  A tawdry whore likely has more integrity and honesty than these political prostitutes.  

NOM's Brian Brown Applauds Russia's Persecution of Gays

I am of an age that I remember when applauding Russia and its dictatorial government caused one to viewed as a possible traitor.  Indeed, during the reign of terror pushed by Joe McCarthy, even rumors that one supported Russia and/or communism ended careers and ruined lives.  Now, Russia is ruled by a former communist KGB officer and the country has moved from a flirtation with democracy to a  dictatorship headed by the aforesaid former communist KBG officer, Vladimir Putin.  So who has been to Russia cheer leading for Putin's vile and corrupt government and policies?  Brian Brown, president of the National Organization for Marriage.  Right Wing Watch has details on Brown's disgusting support for Putin's efforts to make Russian gays the modern day equivalents of Jews in early 1930's Germany.  Here are highlights:

[W]e recently discovered that the website for the international conference of social conservatives hosted at the Kremlin in September has posted a number of English transcripts of speeches given at the event, including those of a handful of American activists.

One of those activists was Brian Brown, president of the National Organization for Marriage, who had previously testified before a Russian parliamentary committee in favor of tightening the country's laws  preventing the adoption of Russian orphans by same-sex couples.

Brown warned the audience in Moscow that “[i]n the West especially there is an attempt to silence those of us who stand for the truth of marriage” but claimed that Americans in general oppose LGBT rights. Lamenting that “there’s a picture that is sometimes painted of the United States as if all of us in the U.S. are somehow embracing this new and false vision of the family,” Brown said that it is “unelected judges” who are “coming and simply throwing away the votes” of Americans who oppose LGBT equality, violating “our civil right to have our vote counted.”

Brown told the conference attendees that he was hopeful for the future of the “international pro-family movement” that would “stand in a united manner against the attempt to redefine the very nature of what it means to be a human being:

It is a great blessing to be with all of you here, in Moscow. . . .  There are three things I want to discuss today. I want to focus primarily on what the future of the international pro-family movement is. Because what is occurring here, and what is occurring around the world, with leaders coming together, and meeting, and thinking, and discussing, and planning, and organizing, is a historic moment. We have an opportunity, we have been placed here to make a change.

It is a testament to how far the Republican Party has fallen that someone like Brown would not only be welcomed but with allies like Tony Perkins aids in setting the GOP's virulently anti-gay agenda.   The irony of it all is that I suspect Vladimir Putin doesn't give a damn one way or another about gays.  But in order to rally support from the heinous Russian Orthodox Church, he is willing to persecute and ruin the lives of Russian gays solely for the purpose of maintaining his own power.  That said, it speaks volumes about what a vile low life Brian Brown is - as are his "godly Christian" allies.

Cuccinelli Ally Rick Santorum: Satan Controls The Film Industry

With his campaign plagued by the perception - which is being successfully cultivated by the Terry MAuliffe team - that he is too extreme for Virginia (I'd add for sane people anywhere) what does Ken Cuccinelli do?  He brings in Rick Santorum to "mobilize voters."   It's as if Cuccinelli is striving hard to confirm every accusation of extremism made against him.  When you are losing moderates and independents, is it really smart to bring in someone who says Satan controls the film industry?  Right Wing Watch looks at Cuccinelli surrogate Santorum's latest batshitery:

Rick Santorum is asking you to do your part to free movie theatres from the Devil’s clutches by purchasing tickets to his upcoming movie, The Christmas Candle.

While speaking on a network where televangelists on a daily basis tell viewers that God will reward them financially if they send in contributions, the former senator and presidential candidate spent most of the time criticizing movies for being too materialistic.

Santorum, who has previously said that Satan has control over mainline Protestantism and universities, thanked viewers in advance for seeing the movie.

“This is a tough business, this is something that we’re stepping out,” Santorum said, “and the Devil for a long, long time has had this, these screens, for his playground and he isn’t going to give it up easily.”

To my view, Cuccinelli and Santorum are clones of each other: likely closeted gay men suffering from an extreme Catholic upbringing and with a resulting obsession with gay sex.  Both foolishly thought that fathering lots of children - each of them has 7 children - would magically make them straight.  They both need to do the world a favor and come out and get over their efforts to control everyone else's sex lives.

 

Christianists: Evacuation Of The Titanic A Model Of Christian Charity

I realize that I tend to bash the Christian Right extremists all the time, but honestly, they just keep on providing so much incredible fodder for highlighting their hypocrisy and utter perversion of the Gospel message. Last week I noted that a group inappropriately named Truth In Action had put together a video clip (Right Wing Watch had highlighted to insanity) that likened America to the Titanic about to strike the iceberg except in the video clip, it was us gays who constitute the iceberg. Apparently not content with simply attacking gays and instilling anti-gay hate, Truth In Action has expanded the Titanic theme to also attack evolution and modernity in general in a radio message. What puts the piece over the top is that the chaotic and class driven evacuation of the Titanic is held up as a model of "Christian charity." Seriously, I kid you not. A situation where the wealthy were given first priority - Sir Cosmo Duff-Gord0n and his wife left the ship with ten others in a boat that could have accommodated another 28 people while all eight members of the Goodwin family in third class, including all six children, died. In fact, many in steerage were literally barred from passing through first class areas as they tried to escape from below decks. And this demonstrates "Christian charity"? Only in the bizarre alternate universe world of the Christianists. Right Wing Watch looks at this latest batshitery:

While Truth in Action Ministries recently informed us that the “radical homosexual agenda” is the iceberg out to sink the ship that is America, it turns out that the plot is even thicker, as it appears that feminism and evolution are also culprits in the country’s devastation. Today on the group’s flagship radio program Truth that Transforms, Doug Phillips of Vision Forum appeared to discuss an event he organized in Branson, Missouri, “to celebrate [the] Christian Legacy of Titanic’s sinking.”

“Though more than 1,500 people died in this international tragedy, the Darwinian notion of the ‘survival of the fittest’ was rejected in favor of the age-old Christian doctrine that the ‘strong sacrifice for the weak,’” Phillips said in a statement.

As Julie Ingersoll in Religion Dispatches notes, “as is often the case with ‘providential history,’ the actual history is distorted to make specific theological points”:

By percentage, twice as many women in third class died as did women in first class; children in first class had nearly three times the survival rate of those in third. One would only use "raw numbers" if one was trying to make a point not supported by the numbers.

In biblical patriarchy, the refrain of "women and children first" hides an agenda whereby the women are "first" only insofar as they keep their place which is subordinate to men.

On Truth that Transforms, Phillips pointed to an 1898 shipwreck on the French ship La Bourgogne where hundreds of women and children died, blaming it on “a culture that embraced evolution” and “the French Revolution which had rejected biblical Christianity and embraced paganism.” He went on to argue that the theory of evolution ultimately leads to the growth of feminism, and the “result is babies are killed en masse, women are treated like chattel and men no longer take on their masculine role as defenders.” The host, former Concerned Women for America president Carmen Pate, later bemoaned that evolution and feminism have “infiltrated” almost all aspects of society:

Phillips: People that were on board the deck of the Titanic at that time were individuals that grew up in a culture which was distinctively Christian in its perspective of the role of men and women and there’s an interesting contrast because in the year 1898 a French vessel called La Bourgogne sunk and when it sunk the sailors and the officers literally threw women and children into the water, beat them over the head, and the men lived and the women died. It sent shockwaves throughout the entire world, people said, ‘how could such a thing happen?’ And in trying to understand why that happened, the commentary was, they grew up in a culture that embraced evolution, it was the struggle of the survival of the fittest, they grew up in the culture of the French Revolution which had rejected biblical Christianity and embraced paganism and the consequences were that men treat women horrifically.

Now we flash forward to the year 2012 and this year our president has finally taken us over the abyss and we have full-fledged commitment to women in the frontlines of combat in overseas battles, we need to understand that that’s the first time in the history of the West that any nation has formally endorsed such a thing and it represents a radical departure from the values that were on board the ship in 1912.

Phillips: Evolution says the struggle of the survival of the fittest, there are no differences between men and women, there is no charity, there is no deference, and in an evolutionary world feminism reaches its height and we see no distinctions. The result is babies are killed en masse, women are treated like chattel and men no longer take on their masculine role as defenders.

The irony, of course, is that it is the Christianist who want women to be treated as chattel and preferably kept barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen. And as for there being "no charity," no one seems better defined by unrelenting greed and hatred towards others than today's conservative Christians. And people wonder what I don't want to be called Christian?

'The Enemy' is Using 'Glee' to 'Bring Us Down'

Right Wing Watch does a wonderful job of showcasing the out right insanity - and often unvarnished hate - that is the face of the so-called Christian Right in America. Many of the alleged leaders of the movement most appropriately belong in mental institutions or at a minimum under constant mental health care. A case in point? James Robison, the founder of Life Outreach International - note how they ALWAYS have a "ministry to line the pockets financially - who believes that the enemies of America are using the television show Glee to destroy the nation. Here are highlights from Right Wing Watch:

The Religious Right is firmly convinced that the television show "Glee" is part of some conspiracy intend on "glamorizing homosexual conduct" in order to idoctrinate children.

And last week, while appearing on Glenn Beck, James Robison explained that the show, like Holywood in general, are being used by "the Enemy" to bring American down and turn the nation "away from God, away from truth":

You made a tremendous comment earlier in the week, you talked about "Glee." You talked about the incredible talent; the talent is so staggeringly great and you said "why can't we take great talent and have a great message?"

You see, the enemy - and you talked about it in "The Overton Window"- the principalities and powers in the realm of darkness and deception know how to take that which is highly effective and use it to their ends to deceive and really to bring us down, away from God, away from truth. They do it highly effectively, they're committed to it.

More Anti-Gay Hate and Lies from the Christianist Crowd

I noted recently that a petition has been started to challenge MSNBC to stop providing a platform for known anti-gay bigots and liars like Tony Perkins. But Perkins is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of whom the mainstream media needs to cease treating as "experts." Time and time again we see people being allowed to make outrageous statements without any challenge or reference to the fact that ALL legitimate medical and mental health experts clearly make the point that the Christianist claims are untrue. Lambda Legal has put together a video clip that captures the lies and undisguised venom that the Christianists are allowed to spew over and over again by lazy and irresponsible reporters and media outlets. If these folks are going to be allowed to make such statements, (1) they need to be forced to admit that their statements merely reflect their personal opinions and (2) the news anchor or someone else needs to state the fact that legitimate credentialed experts disagree 100% with the views being stated. With the epidemic of gay teen suicides continuing one would think responsible journalist would seek to present the truth on their shows. Right Wing Watch looks at a new anti-gay myth being floated by the Christianists: that 60% of gays were sexually abused as children. We may have been abused but it wasn't sexually. No, it was psychological abuse by "godly Christians" preaching anti-gay hate and parroting junk science. Here are highlights from Right Wing Watch:

Dobson and Myers insist that by reporting on anti-gay activists, Right Wing Watch is trying to quash any debate over homosexuality, and then went into push the myth that gays molest children in order to recruit them.

Myers said that “60 percent of the males who end up proclaiming a homosexual lifestyle were abused as children,” even though according to the American Psychiatric Association, “no specific psychosocial or family dynamic cause for homosexuality has been identified, including histories of childhood sexual abuse. Sexual abuse does not appear to be more prevalent in children who grow up to identify as gay, lesbian, or bisexual, than in children who identify as heterosexual.” MaleSurvivor also called such a claim a “myth,” noting that “experts in the human sexuality field do not believe that premature sexual experiences play a significant role in late adolescent or adult sexual orientation.”

As I've said before, when a Christianist's lips are moving, its a safe bet that he or she is lying. And lying deliberately.

Matt Barber: Gay Teens Kill Themselves Because They Know They are Immoral

Matt Barber has made a career out of doing all in his power to make life a living Hell for LGBT individuals both here in the USA and elsewhere. No lie is to foul and no fabricated "research" to bogus to escape Barber's use to dehumanize and denigrate others who are simply living their lives as God - assuming their is one - made them. I can think of few people more immoral than Barber and similar hate peddling prostitutes of the Christian Right. They make a living (often a very, very nice living: Maggie Gallagher and Bill Donohue both make well into the six figures) off of hate and bigotry. There really is no other way to objectively describe their actions. Now, Barber has taken his denigration of gays to a new level. According to Barber, gay teens are killing themselves because they recognize their own immorality. It's not the hate, bullying and constant assault from folks like Barber. No, it's because gay teens are immoral - and apparently in Barber's view deserve to be dead. Once again, Right Wing Watch has details on just how sick and disgusting these supposed Christians like Barber are in fact: * Liberty Counsel’s Matt Barber took to the airwaves to bash President Obama and organizations working towards bullying-prevention, joining other Religious Right opponents of anti-bullying programs. Along with Shawn Akers, who like Barber works for both Liberty University and Liberty Counsel, Barber railed against the alleged use of “a ‘Trojan Horse’ strategy, using language of bullying and violence and creating safe schools” to implement “a homosexual activist political indoctrination agenda and a curriculum of pro-homosexual propaganda.” Barber also said that Obama is “furthering a separate but equal policy” that supposedly favors gay and lesbian students * Barber concluded by claiming that “kids who are engaging in homosexual behavior often look inward and know that what they are doing is unnatural, is wrong, is immoral, and so they become depressed and the instances of suicide can rise there as well.” * It's yet another example of hate-filled Christians blaming the victims of their own propaganda and intolerance. Once again, I find myself agreeing with Anne Rice. If Barber is an example of what it means to be a Christian, then I do NOT want to be called a Christian in any form shape or manner.

Religious Right Forming It Own "Army" to Take Over Government

The sense of entitlement and quest for special rights that trample on the rights of others so prevalent among Christianists is no better exemplified than by a story being reported by Right Wing Watch that looks at the Christian dominionist goals of some of the leading haters in our society today. Not surprisingly, up to his eye balls in the plot is Tony Perkins, head of the registered hate group Family Research Council. The open contempt that these individuals feel for the religious freedom of others and their desire to establish a Christianist equivalent of Sharia law is absolutely chilling. Yet too many in the main stream media continue to refuse to expose them for what they truly are. Here are highlights from Right Wing Watch:

For months now, we have been chronicling how self-described prophets and apostles have been merging 7 Mountains/Dominionism with "mainstream" Religious Right activism ... and increasingly the man at the center of this appears to be the Family Research Council's Tony Perkins.

Just today we noted that Joyner, Jerry Boykin, and Janet Porter were gathering for a conference next month and as I was looking for more information about that, I stumbled across this video of Perkins, Joyner, Boykin and Frank Turek discussing the importance of Christians getting deeply involved in politics. Perkins explains the absolute necessity of getting Christians into all levels of government

Finally, Joyner announced that Christians have more than enough people to take control, but they need to bind together and, as such, would soon be unveiling coalition called "300."

Voice of Christian Youth America Dumps Janet Porter

What a week!! Janet Folger Porter has literally made a career out of demonizing gays and pushing a Christo-fascist agenda aimed at meddling in the sexual affairs and religious beliefs of other citizens. Here's a brief chronological run down: For nine years she was the Legislative Director of Ohio Right to Life (1988-1997). From there, she served as the National Director for the Center for Reclaiming America (1997-2002), founded by rabidly anti-gay Coral Ridge Ministries' founder, the late D. James Kennedy. At Coral Ridge, Folger/Porter helped devise the use of gay-bashing and the threat of the "gay agenda" as a Christianist fund raising tool. From Coral Ridge, she started her own entity, Faith2Action, another organization seeking to destroy religious freedom for other citizens not subscribing to her particularly ego centric religious beliefs, to continue living off of fear instilled in the gullible. During this process, she has been peddling a daily radio program on Christian networks and individual stations. She also has been writing a weekly column for World Net Daily, a/k/a WingNutDaily.

Along this journey, Folger/Porter has become more and more delusional and hostile to other religious faiths and belief traditions. Now, she's apparently too crazy even for Voice of Christian Youth America ("VCY"). As Right Wing Watch is reporting, VCY has dumped Folger/Porter's show. It seems her increasingly unrestrained dominionist theology was just too much. Here are highlights from Right Wing Watch:

Janet Porter of Faith 2 Action had become increasingly involved in "dominion" theology, the idea that Christians are called to take complete control over every aspect of human life in order to bring about the return of Christ.

There is something called "7 Mountains" theology that sets out seven specific aspects of the national culture that Christians are supposed to retake and this "7 Mountains" theology was at the very center of Porter's May Day prayer rally at the Lincoln Memorial over that weekend. Organizers had been preparing for as many as 8,0000 to attend but no more than a few hundred actually showed up, leading speakers to plead with those in attendance to make sizable donations to help defray the $70,000 cost of putting on the event.

I was listening to VCY America, which carries Porter's daily radio program, in order to hear how she would spin this epic failure ... but instead of hearing Porter's program begin at 2:00 pm as scheduled, I heard instead a statement from VCY America's Vic Eliason announcing that they would no longer be carrying or supporting her program due to her increasing involvement with dominion theology . . . Elisaon explains that they had repeatedly warned Porter about her dominionism to no avail, thus forcing them to sever their ties with her and her program.

One can only hope that more of the Christianist extremists will become so unhinged that they are deemed non-credible even by conservative Christian outlets like VCY.

The Increasingly Visible Insanity of the Far Right

I guess the far right elements in this country have long been playing without a full deck as they say, but it seems that in the last few months since the 2008 elections the loonies have been truly outdoing themselves. Between the anti-gay Christianists, the conspiracy theory lovers and the simply paranoid, and the crowd of nutcases assembled at Conservative Political Action Conference ("CPAC") in Washington, D.C., it has become a bit scary that some of these folks are on the loose. Here's a sampling of some of the lunacy among the the GOP base (seriously, you could not make up some of this stuff if you tried):

First there is the unhinged lunacy among some Catholics in San Diego - perhaps not a surprising phenomenon given who we have as the current Pope - that is more than a bit troubling. Johnatan Turley reports as follows:

San Diego Catholics are protesting a decision by San Diego Bishop Robert Brom to ask Pastor Richard Perozich to tone it down after he ran a rabid article entitled “100 Days or End of Days?” in the parish bulletin of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Escondido. Fr. Perozich appears to believe that Obama will be unleashing such things as “homogenital sex.” Fr. Perozich believes that with Obama “evil has acceded to power.” Fr. Perozich has previously written columns that caused controversy, such one, “The Wages of Sin is Death” which was a diatribe against homosexuality and tied directly to the payment of damages to victims of sexual abuse.

Equally insane is the Creation Studies Institute and its "Operation Salt" which seeks expose the "deception, brainwashing and censorship" of evolution. Frankly, if anyone knows about brainwashing, it's this organization which brainwashes the mentally feeble who accept its half baked theories. Here's an example:

Then we have the loons at CPAC who still are obsessing over the false claims that that Barack Obama was not born in the USA - Hawaii doesn't count apparently - and is not eliligible to be president. Here's a sampling from Think Progress:

Earlier this afternoon, Cliff Kincaid, head of a conservative group Accuracy in Media, introduced Rep. Mike Pence (R-IN). Kincaid suggested that President Obama is a communist, then suggested Obama was not born in the United States — to which the crowd cheered wildly. . . . Despite the fact that it has been thoroughly and repeatedly debunked, radical conservatives continue to peddle the ridiculous myth.

Also at CPAC we have Matt Staver of Liberty Counsel and Dean of Liberty University School of Law - Jerry Falwell's parting booby prize to Virginia - expounding on what same-sex marriage would do to the family, namely produce a generation of violent criminals. The Liberty Counsel's Mat Staver explains to the CPAC audience that "same-sex marriage sets forth a fatherless policy" and says that you don't need a bunch of scientific data to know that that is bad. After all, kids without fathers tend to fare poorly ... and if you need proof, all you have to do is take a look at the prison population. Thus, the logic seems to go, letting two women get married will lead to a whole generation of fatherless children who will inevitably become violent criminals:

Right Wing Coniptions Over Gay Marriage

Right Wing Watch has a good summary of the disingenuous fuming and pronouncements coming forth amongst the professional Christianist organizations now that gay marriages are legally occuring in California. As I have said many times I find it amazing how these alleged followers of Christ utterly ignore his message of love of neighbor and instead disseminate a non-stop message of hate and disparagement of others. The millions that they spend (i) paying themselves salaries for being full time anti-gay bigots and (ii) seeking to deny gays civil legal rights could be so much better used feeding the hungry, clothing the poor, and working to end injustice. This insane obsession with persecuting gays to me indicates that these folks - not us gays - are the ones with the deep-seated mental health issues. These folks truly need some serious mental health counseling and perhaps drug therapy as well. Here are some highlights:

Last month, when the California Supreme Court ruled in favor of marriage rights for gays and lesbians, the Right was typically apoplectic, unleashing everything from Nazi metaphors to warnings that the end of the world was near. In the weeks since, it doesn’t seem as if the Right has calmed down much and now that marriages have begun in the state, they have come out in force to rail against it and warn of dire consequences to come.

While Concerned Women for America announced a Day of Prayer and Fasting in hopes that “our nation will return to the Biblical values on which she was founded,” others such as Biblical Family Advocates screeched that “California has slid off of its foundations into moral anarchy” and accused the court of mandating sin by allowing gays to “sodomize the entire culture”: "It is truly amazing that the homosexual community desired the government to get out of their bedroom and now they use the government to force their bedroom upon the general populace. They will not be satisfied until they have sodomized the entire culture, including the family, schools and even the church which should be a safe haven for children, not hedonistic indoctrination camps."

Vision America’s Rick Scarborough, another professional homophobe who rakes in money hand over fist through his anti-gay rants and lies had this to say:

Those who think the judicial assault on marriage won't affect them had better think again. It will impact on everything from adoption to public-school curriculum. Church-based agencies will be forced to place children with same-sex couples or get out of the adoption business. The schools will be required to teach that there's absolutely no difference between a family with a mommy and a daddy and one with two mommies, or two daddies." Scarborough urged the people of California and America to "resist this monumental evil."

Right Wing Watch has a piece on the far right Christianists' effort to challenge the popular Wikipedia. The concept was the brain child of teacher, Andy Schlafly—son of the famous anti-gay culture warrior Phyllis Schlafly (who herself has a gay child) - because of Wikipedia's alleged bias against America and Christianity. In contrast, Concervapedia is obsessed with right-wing politics, evolution, and homosexuality. In spite of the ridicule, Schlafly and his minions are still at it today. Eagle Forum just released a video promoting Conservapedia as an affirming alternative to the Wikipedia world (and the real world that most of us with more than moronic intelligence live in). I cannot even imagine living in the delusional world of these un-Christian people. Here's highlights of what Conservapedia says about the "Homosexual Agenda"

The homosexual agenda, or homosexual ideology, consists of a set of beliefs and objectives. The ideology and goals, as explained further below, include restricting free speech, obtaining special treatment, distorting science, and interfering with freedom of association. In terms of the "choice myth" being an important underpinning to the Christianist effort to deny equal civil legal rights treatment to gays and why Exodus and "ex-gay ministries" are essential, Conservapedia says in parts as follows (note: while making the false statement that sexual orientation is a choice, many additional derrogatory statements are made about gays, including more than 50 year old studies on homosexuality in other cultures):
