Rudy Giuliani told CNN's Wolf Blitzer yesterday that he thinks it would be politically wise for Republicans to stop demonizing gays and says 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' is ready to go, now. No doubt the modern day Pharisees of the Christian Right will have a conniption fit over these remarks (I suspect that Elaine Donnelly wet herself if she happened to be watch this interview). Gays are among the Christofascists' favorite groups to demonize in order to shake down the bigoted, senile and ignorant for money. And GOP politicians are not any better in their bigotry since they further their own agenda with the forces of the lunatic far right by spreading hate against gays, blacks, Hispanics, immigrants and many others. Indeed, these politicians and the Christianists are best defined by who they hate - which is just about everyone other than white conservative Christians. Obviously, Giuliani needs to have a heart to heart with John McCain, a/k/a John McSenile, on this topic since McSenile says he will block any attempt to repeal DADT in the Senate. GIULIANI: My feeling about Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell was, in the middle of the height of the Iraq war, not a good time to do it. We’re not in the middle of the height of the Iraq war. Afghanistan is a different kind of thing. You could probably accomplish it now. It’s eventually going to happen and it seems to me that it gets my party out of this anti-gay, feeling that we’re being unfair to people who are gay.
