Virginia's Delegate Bob Marshall Proposes "Personhood" Bill

It hasn't taken long for the first wave of GOP batshitery and extremism to start in the wake of the Democrats control of the Virginia Senate. Delegate Bob Marshall - who has previously outright stated that he'd like to drive all LGBT Virginians from the state - has introduced a "personhood" bill akin to what was voted down in Mississippi earlier in the month. Marshall continues to be Hell bent to turn Virginia into a state of knuckle dragging extremists that anyone with intelligence and education - not to mention a belief in religious freedom for everyone - will seek to flee. Admittedly, Marshall is in my view mentally ill, but you can be sure he's following dictates from The Family Foundation which is now the principal puppeteer for the Republican Party of Virginia. This lunacy underscores the fact that the Republican Party of Virginia seeks to turn Virginia into a Christianist backwater. Here are highlights from the Virginian Pilot:

A Virginia legislator known for his opposition to abortion has filed a so-called "personhood" bill.

Del. Bob Marshall filed legislation Monday that states that human life begins at fertilization, and that Virginia's laws should grant rights, privileges and immunities to what the bill calls "unborn children."

Abortion-rights supporters say the Prince William County Republican's measure would outlaw abortion and threaten certain forms of birth control. They also say it's out of touch with Virginians' values and priorities.

The pre-filing period for legislation for the upcoming General Assembly session opened Monday.

Marshall, of course, wants no legal rights for LGBT citizens in Virginia which shows his hypocrisy. Surprisingly, even the comments on the article by local Pilot readers are running against this lunacy.
