Kim Davis' Phony Crocodile Tears

Kim Davis, the renegade anti-gay Rown County, Kentucky clerk - who candidly, I see as a bloviating serial adulterer cow - has taken to the airwaves via ABC News and its affiliated shows in an apparent effort to garner sympathy for her defiance of numerous federal court orders.  Stripped of all else, Davis appears to be a self-centered person who is psychologically and emotionally damaged (morally challenged to boot) who has grasped onto fundamentalist Christian as a means to find some shred of self-respect.  In many ways, Davis is a victim much like the "ex-gays for pay" who are total losers in life who have blamed their problems on their homosexuality rather than their own bad choices and bad conduct.   I for one have ZERO sympathy for Davis and believe that tawdry whores have more virtue and integrity than Davis.  The ultimate irony, however, is that Davis is either oblivious to or indifferent to the harm she and her "godly Christian" friends shower on LGBT Americans virtually every day.  My gay activist/blogger friend John Becker summed it up well in a Facebook post:

Awwwww, Kimmy, it hurts your widdle feelings when someone tells you that God doesn't love you and isn't happy with you? 

That's rich -- because that's exactly what "Christians" like you tell people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender. Constantly. Religion-based bigotry is exactly why so many LGBT people are driven to anxiety, depression, and suicide, and why so many LGBT kids are kicked out of their homes (a whopping 40% of homeless youth are LGBT-identified).

The religion-based bigotry you're breaking the law to defend is literally killing us, but we're supposed to feel sorry for *you*... because your feelings are hurt? PUKE.

As disgusting as Davis may be, even worse are the parasites of the professional Christian crowd who are using Davis to line their own pockets and subsidize the plush lifestyles they lead by peddling hatred.    I can honestly say, that with every passing day the contempt that I hold for "Christians" like Davis is growing.  They are poor excuses for human beings.

Why Are So Mant "Godly Christians" Such Horrible People?

The late Mahatma Gandhi is purported to have said “I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.”  Sadly, no truer statement sums up the reality of  today's "godly Christian" crowd who make a huge public display of the supposed piety - think Tony Perkins, Maggie Gallagher, Benedict XVI, the list is endless - yet are best known for the hate and bigotry that marks them in a crowd.   Apparently, they've forgotten the directive found in Matthew 6:6"

But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

And then there's their misery treatment of others.   A post on Crumbs from the Communion Table looks at the batshitery of a "godly Christian" pastor who stiffs a waiter while congratulating himself on his assumed godliness.  Having worked as a waiter years ago in my college days, I know first hand how badly wait staff gets screwed by large parties, so I identify with the aggrieved waiter.   Here are highlights:

 Yesterday, a restaurant server posted the . . . . photo[above] to reddit; it’s already going viral.

The story: The pastor was part of a party of 20 who ate at this server’s restaurant. Like many American restaurants, this particular one has a policy of adding an automatic 18% tip for large parties. It’s something the computer does automatically, not something the server has any control over.

According to the server, the pastor and his party tried to get around the automatic 18% tip by asking for separate checks, even though the same man was paying for the whole table. The server says that everyone was happy with the service; they just didn’t like the idea of a compulsory tip.

The result? The pastor scribbled out the tip, leaving none at all, and adding the note, “I give God 10%. Why do you get 18?”

Oh, and just to drive the point home, he made sure to add the word “Pastor” above his signature at the bottom.

Really?

If you’ve read my book TORN, you know that I had similar experiences waiting tables:

“Sundays are the worst,” one of the servers explained to me. “That’s when the church crowd goes out to eat.”

“What’s wrong with the church crowd?” I asked.

“Oh, honey,” she said. “They’re usually the most demanding, and they’re always the worst tippers. I guarantee you, if you see your table praying before the meal, you can mentally subtract a third from your tip.”

I'm accused of being too hard on conservative Christians, but seriously, there are few groups of people who are more selfish and self-centered.  Gandhi got it right.   No one is a better advertisement for shunning Christianity today than the godly Christian crowd.

Catholic League's William Donohue Proves to be Another Self-Enriching Bigot

Even before I left the Catholic Church a decade or more ago, I found William Donohue and the Catholic League to be liars and professional victims. Now, new financial information indicates that Donohue - like Maggie Gallagher and other professional homophobes - is living very high on the hog living off of demonizing gays, claiming that anti-Catholic bigotry exists under every bush, and unquestioningly kissing the asses of the corrupt and disingenuous members of the Church hierarchy. Like his professional Christian cohorts, Donohue makes the tawdriest of hookers look virtuous. According to Catholic United - a non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to promoting the message of justice and the common good - Catholic League President William Donohue receives $399,156 in annual compensation. Meanwhile, the Catholic League holds some $26 Million in assets. Indeed, Donohue proves himself to be just as arrogant and corrupt as the members of the Church hierarchy to whom he prostitutes himself. Here are highlights from the Catholics United website:

According to annual IRS Form 990 filings, the organization spent more than $2.6 million in 2009, despite the fact that its program work constitutes little more than the issuing of inflammatory press releases.

The Catholic League masquerades as an official ministry of the Catholic Church while engaging in heavyhanded tactics that many Catholics find distasteful. Donohue recently threatened a media campaign against state governors who didn't display nativity scenes in state capitol buildings.

Despite this, New York Archbishop Timothy Dolan, president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, authored a blog post last week expressing support for Donohue and his organization. . . . “Across the country, Catholic dioceses are closing parishes and everyday Catholics are struggling to make ends meet. Bill Donohue is clearly out of touch with this reality,” said Chris Korzen, executive director of Catholics United. “Now we know why Donohue is so intent on ignoring social justice, concern for the poor, and other actual teachings of Jesus Christ: focusing on these issues is not good for the bottom line.”

As organizations go, the Catholic League is a “non-profit” in name only. In 2009 it pocketed $943,516 in excess revenue, down from $1.35 million in 2008. As of the most recent filings, the Catholic League reported $26.2 million in net assets.

Molly Wei Feels Attacked - - Please get Me a Vomit Bag

Obviously, Molly Wei (at right in the photo at right) - one of the students who secretly taped and broadcast Tyler Clementi during a tryst and pushed Clementi to suicide - has been provided with crib notes by the professional Christians of the Christian Right. Just like the Christianists who inflict all kinds of discrimination, hatred and harm on other citizens, now Ms. Wei feels that somehow SHE is the victim and that she's under attacked. It's dumbfounding for sure, but all too typical of those who put themselves, their beliefs, and their prejudices above the rights of others. Never mind that Wei cost another person his life. She, in fact, deserves to be attacked and demonized. People Magazine has highlights of Ms. Wei's whining bullshit and apparent self-centered infatuation. Here are highlights:

"She feels that everyone is attacking her," a close friend tells PEOPLE after Wei and Clementi's roommate, Dharun Ravi, were charged with two counts of invasion of privacy for allegedly live streaming on the Internet a sexual encounter between Clementi and another man.

Wei's friend also says he has read Facebook comments calling her a monster and saying she deserves to burn in hell. . . . According to her friend, Wei is now living the life of a fugitive. "She is going to different places," he says, "because the media is always at her house."

While there are no signs that Ravi and Wei have resumed taking classes at Rutgers, neither of their defense attorneys – nor the university – would comment on their educational status.

A Heartfelt Than You to the Boyfriend

kI do not thank the boyfriend enough for the love he has given me, but now seems like a good time to do so. The last 13+ months that we have been together have been wonderful - or at least as they could be given the constant efforts of my ex-wife to harass me and make my life Hell in general. She is a totally self-centered person who literally seeks to steal her children's inheritance for herself. I hope karma gets her in the end as she so fully deserves.

In contrast the boyfriend is loving, seeks to give to others rather than take and is truly one of the most selfless people I know. He truly has loved me - despite my huge quantity of baggage and high maintenance at times - more than anyone in my life other than perhaps my parents. I tease him about his "head trauma" that blinds him to my shortcomings.

Whatever may happen from here out, he has been a wonderful addition to my life and I will always love him. I apologize for any pain I may cause him.
