Dan Abrams v. Christianist Wingnut

I was watching Dan Abrams on MSNBC last night when the issue of Dumbledore's sexual orientation came up. Not surprisingly, representing the wingnut lunatic position was Robert Knight, formerly with Concerned [Bitches] Women for America, who accused J.K. Rowling of being part of a "homosexual agenda" to subvert the minds of children. I have had e-mail debates with Knight before and my personal impression is that he is an extreme case of a self-loathing gay who transfer his own self hate to gays who lead their lies openly.

The funnest part of the interview was when Abrams asked Knight if it bothered him that Bert and Ernie live together. Knight was nearly foaming at the mouth and accused Abrams of making fun of him. The reality is that Knight did it all by himself with his lunatic belief that there's a gay conspiracy under every bush. True, Abrams rolled his eyes a few times. :) Overall, Abrams did a masterful job in keeping Knight in check and not allowing him to rant unchallenged. Would that more in the media would do so when interviewing crazy Christianists.
Although he did not make the allegation last night, Knight is fond of claiming that every civilization that has accepted homosexuality has fallen. Forget the fact that when confronted with historical facts, Knight admitted to me that classical Rome and Greece did not fall because of homosexuality. At the time, he claimed he'd correct his statements in the future. Naturally, within weeks he was peddling the same old tired lie.
