Top CIA Official: Order to Forge Iraq-9/11 Letter Came From White House

I truly believe that some day most Americans will be horrified by what we will learn went on in the Bush/Cheney regime both in terms of outright lawlessness and conduct worthy of the Nazis or Bolsheviks. Emperor Palpatine Cheney - who will never come back from the "dark side" - has consistently shown an utter contempt for the U. S. Constitution, international treaties and the rule of law. Both he and the Chimperator I believe are guilty of high crimes and misdemeanors meriting impeachment, not to mention possible war crimes likely meriting execution should all the truth ever come out. Their regime will be a nasty stain on America's image for many years to come. It is imperative that the truth be exposed - something that will not happen under a McCain presidency - so that history will know the level of evil that has been a hallmark of this regime. Here are highlights from RawStory that look at the deliberate fabrication of a document that was used to take the country to war based on lies. Thousands of Americans and Iraqis have died because of the disgusting dishonesty of Bush and Cheney:

A forged letter linking Saddam Hussein to the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks was ordered on White House stationery and probably came from the office of Vice President Dick Cheney, according to a new transcript of a conversation with the Central Intelligence Agency's former Deputy Chief of Clandestine Operations Robert Richer.

On Tuesday, the White House released a statement on Richer's behalf. In it, Richer declared, "I never received direction from George Tenet or anyone else in my chain of command to fabricate a document ... as outlined in Mr. Suskind's book." The denial, however, directly contradicts Richer's own remarks in the transcript.

"But he didn't say that specifically," Richer added. "I would naturally--I would probably stand on my, basically, my reputation and say it came from the vice president." "But there wasn't anything in the writing that you remember saying the vice president," Suskind continued. "Nope," Richer said. "It just had the White House stationery." "Exactly right."

The bogus memo claimed that 9/11 hijacker Mohammed Atta had received training in Baghdad but also discussed the arrival of a "shipment" from Niger, which the Administration claimed had supplied Iraq with yellowcake uranium -- based on yet another forged document whose source remains uncertain.

Today, The American Conservative also published a report saying that the forgery was actually produced by then-Defense Undersecretary Douglas Feith's Office of Special Plans, citing an unnamed intelligence source. The source reportedly added that Suskind’s overall claim “is correct."

Bush and Cronies Above the Law

It is hard for me to find words to fully convey the contempt that I hold for Chimperator Bush and his Christo-fascist regime which touts its religiosity while acting as lawless hooligans. The American public needs to seriously wake up and retake this nation. Andrew Sullivan has several great statements on his blog concerning the Libby commutation. Here's one I fully endorse:

We now have a clear and simple illustration of the arrogance of this president. Tell the American people the core narrative of this monarchical presidency: this president believes he is above the law in wiretapping citizens with no court oversight; he has innovated an explosive use of signing statements to declare himself above the law on a bewildering array of other matters, large and small; he has unilaterally declared himself above American law, international law, and U.N. Treaty obligations in secretly authorizing torture; he has claimed the right to seize anyone in the United States, detain them indefinitely without trial and torture them; his vice-president refuses to abide by the law that mandates securing classified documents; and when a court of law finds a friend of the president's guilty, he commutes the sentence.

Most Americans find this blatant abuse of power repugnant - war or no war. Many find the way in which the commentariat has been coopted in defending this lawlessness to be equally repugnant. When a governing class declares itself collectively above the rule of law, and does so with open contempt for the judicial system, it's time that elite was brought down a peg or two. I think Bush just gave the country a simple reason to rid Washington of him and all he stands for. We will now see exactly what character Americans are made of: supplicants of a feather-bedded aristocracy or self-governing citizens under the rule of law?

This regime and those in the GOP who have given it a blank check over and over again truly must be stopped and totally discredited at the ballot box come 2008.

Bush Won't Supply Subpoenaed Documents

Today's Washington Post story, portions of which follow, provides yet further evidence that Chimperator Bush thinks he is "der Fureher" and above the law:

The White House said today it would not comply with congressional subpoenas for documents and testimony relating to the firings of federal prosecutors last year, setting up a potential constitutional confrontation over its claim of executive privilege.

In a letter to the chairmen of the House and Senate judiciary committees, President Bush's counsel, Fred F. Fielding, said the White House refuses to turn over documents that were subpoenaed by the two committees on June 13. The deadline for handing over most of them was today.

The committees are seeking the documents to determine the extent of White House involvement in the firing of nine U.S. attorneys last year. That action by the Justice Department has caused an uproar in Congress and prompted many Democrats and some Republicans to call for the resignation of Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales.

In a separate action, the Senate Judiciary Committee yesterday issued subpoenas for White House documents related to the National Security Agency's warrantless wiretapping program. The White House did not immediately say whether it would turn over those documents by the July 18 deadline.
