August 2, 2014 - "Dinner is Served" to Benefit ACCESS AIDS Care

One of the fundraisers that the husband and I support - and work to help host - each summer is "Diner Is Served" at the home of our friend in Virginia Beach.  All proceeds go to support ACCESS AIDS Care which provides service - including counseling, food supply and housing - for individuals and families impacted by HIV/AIDS.   Each year the event has a theme and many come in costumes.  Last year's theme was "Togas and Tiaras."  This year's theme is "Trailer Park Trash" - I can just imagine some of the costumes.   Here are details on the event:

WHEN: Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 6:00pm - 9:00pm

WHERE:  1425 Rylands Road, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23455

WHAT:  Trailer Park Trash Pool Party!   Dinner, cocktails, pool time, and volleyball. Come in costume as the most glamorous of the trailer park... or the trashiest!

It was a busy weekend that ranged from buying a new car - my daughter will have my old one on loan since they needed another car - to attending a gay wedding in the Ghent area of Norfolk to a laid back pool party at "The Country Club" in Virginia Beach this afternoon and then a leisurely walk with the dogs in the neighborhood.  Some photos from the weekend are above and below.

"Dinner is Served" - Mediterranean Pool Party "Tiaras & Togas" - Today August 3, 2013

The boyfriend and I helped begin the set up last night for today's "Dinner is Served" party in Virginia Beach to benefit Access Aids Care, a local AIDS/HIV assistance organization.  Tickets can be purchased at the door and are well worth the price to support this worthy charity.  The boyfriend has put the finishing touches on our Classical Greek themed costumes - costumes are NOT required - and he will be headed out soon to start preparation of the ante-pastas dishes.  I hope local readers will turn out this evening.  The weather should be perfect.  And many thanks again to Olive Garden for providing a great deal of the food.  Here are details:

Dinner Is Served is an annual event held by ACCESS AIDS Care where individuals and groups agree to host parties to help raise much needed funds for ACCESS and the services we provide to the community.
