Recognition of Gay Relationships in Europe

With yesterday's 4th of July celebrations here in the USA there was much self-congratulations among Americans that they live in the "land of the free" and a nation with religious freedom for all. Of course, truth be told, such is not the case. As the map above demonstrates, more and more of "Old Europe" is out stripping the USA in granting legal equality to all of its citizens in terms of marriage and quasi-marriage rights. On the map, green equates to marriage and red equates to other legal recognition of same sex couples. And meanwhile Christianists and Mormons continue to strive to turn the U. S. Constitution upside down and create an established form of religion.
