A Christianist Invented Overview of the "Homosexual Agenda"

The fundies at Alliance Defense Fund are continuing to run around in hysteria in the wake of the California Supreme Court gay marriage ruling a week ago. Among the things they are whining about is the Homosexual Agenda of "Same-Sex Rights,” State Court Mandates for Same-Sex “Marriage,” and "Special Class Status" as well as other tactics to subvert the nation. Here is some of the drivel they are disseminating to fellow Kool-Aid drinkers:

As active as I am in gay rights matters, it a wonder I have never been given my copy of the manual containing the "Homosexual Agenda." These folks are truly unhinged. For those not in the know, ADF was founded in 1994 by more than 30 evangelical "Christian ministry leaders," which includes a virtual who's who of Christianist nut cases: Dr. Bill Bright (Campus Crusade for Christ), Larry Burkett (Crown Financial Ministries), Dr. James Dobson (Focus on the Family), Dr. D. James Kennedy (Coral Ridge Ministries), and Marlin Maddoux (International Christian Media).

Fundie Hate Orgasms

Not surprisingly the gay-haters over at Townhall.com and Concerned Women [Bitches] for America have jumped all over Obama’s open letter to the LGBT community and the Gay and Lesbian Leadership Institute program of vetting qualified LGBT citizen’s for executive branch appointments respectively. They are in such are in such a tizzy that they’ve just about wet themselves. Never mind the lunatic ideas of McCain’s endorser, John Hagee that I previously commented upon. First at Townhall.com we have Kevin McCullough making the following remarks about Obama, accompanied of course by a photo of him in African attire from a five nation tour in 2006 (http://kevinmccullough.townhall.com/blog/g/8b55fca3-cfe8-473f-9967-2144e6133bb7):

He has issued a written statement saying to the homosexual elite radicals that he will REPEAL the National Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). And that on the issue of redefining the institution by which ALL of society has been built upon he would allow state by state any jolly perverted idea or arrangement that can be signed into law to take place.

And of course merely saying that engaging in homosexual behavior is in fact unhealthy, detrimental and even deadly - would qualify as outright "homophobic" views in Obama's world. SO we can't teach Biblical sexuality... i.e. HEALTHY... only the gospel of condoms!

Obama supporters have tried to silence me claiming that he was never the radical activist for the homosexual lobby that I always knew him to be, but now he has proven me right - and his blinded sheep following him like lemmings over the edge of the cliff are now faced with a choice. A radical liberal activist (supporting homosexual behavior) who supports the most radical redefinition of the basic family structure in the history of the world... or John McCain.

Then there’s Matt Barber at CWA – why is it these women always seem to need a male spokesperson? – hyperventilating over the “homosexual agenda” of taking over the government. One would think their doctors would try harder to keep Barber, et al, taking their meds everyday since they are clearly delusional. Matt Barber, policy director for cultural issues at Washington, DC-based Concerned Women for America, says the project puts to rest the notion that there is no "gay agenda." He says the homosexual lobby is committed to infiltrating the executive branch with people who define their identity based on changeable, sexually deviant behavior. "The ultimate goal, of course, being to have people who engage in these aberrant sexual behaviors in a position of power to influence public policy in such a way that they gain more power," he explains.

Members of the homosexual lobby have done a masterful job of equating their chosen, changeable sexual behavior with immutable characteristics such as skin color, says Barber. "They're comparing apples to oranges, of course, because they are not the same," he says of the homosexual lobby's attempt at comparison. "They have hijacked the language of the genuine civil rights movement and, as such, in corporations around the country and in various governmental entities are considered minorities worthy of special consideration and special rights in terms of hiring practices."

Barber says the idea that a declaration of immoral sexual behavior makes for a better resume and would be a key to landing a high-ranking government job is "frightening."

Of course what is truly frightening is that there are sheeple out there who take McCollough and Barber and those like them seriously. Worse yet, they are subjecting their children to a religious indoctrination that in my view equates to child abuse.

They are a wonderful spoof of the Christianist mentality and very entertaining. I have seen Betty Bowers many times via whitehouse.org and Michelle at Magic Belly Button reminded me just how crazy Ms. Bowers can be. Christian Post: America's "pro-gay" Culture Affects Iraqi Christians

I am taking this article written by Pam Spaulding verbatim from Americablog (http://www.americablog.com/2007/08/christian-post-americas-pro-gay-culture.html) - the photo is my contribution. It shows how loony the fundies are that now gays are indirectly being blamed it would seem for the kidnapping (and likely murder) of Iraqi Christians:

[The Daily Oklahoman, Oct. 23rd, 2004]).Western culture ("freedom" is apparently defined as "pro-gay") is now being blamed for the persecution of Christians in Iraq, according to Rev. Canon Andrew White -- vicar of the 1,300-member St. George’s Anglican Church in Baghdad.

White spoke about Western culture and values and their detrimental effects on Iraqi Christians...."It is seen as an immoral tradition. It is seen as a tradition that does not uphold values. It is seen as a tradition that does not uphold the respect for the kind of issues that the Islamic religion holds as very significant to them,” said the Anglican priest who has worked in Iraq for over a decade.

White said that the previous day he had received an email from some of the Christians in Baghdad asking him if it was true that the Church in America supported homosexuality...."These positions often held by Western Christians are not held by Iraqi Christians," emphasized White. "They are very, very different. My people say the Creed and they believe it. My people live a very upright, courageous and respectful life," said the pastor who had 36 of his congregants kidnapped with only one returned in the past month.

Pam goes on to say: I'm sorry, but blaming gays for the criminal behavior of others is outlandish and offensive. It's akin to a cultural/ religious "gay panic" defense for bigotry and violence between people of different faiths. If The Homosexual Agenda is all-powerful and all-consuming, why are we still second-class taxpaying citizens in our own nation? We do not have marriage equality, in many places we can still be fired from a job for being gay, we cannot serve openly in the military; in some states, such as Florida, we cannot adopt or foster children, the list goes on and on.

I love Pam's directness and no holds barred approach to calling out the fundies. If I ever get down Raleigh way, I'd love to look her up.
