While this cartoon is aimed at the hypocrisy of the Roman Catholic Church, it also does a wonderful summing up of the perversion of the Gospel message by the Christianists and self-congratulatory professional Christian set such as Maggie Gallagher, Tony Perkins, the Wildmons, James Dobson, Bryan Fischer and of course, the Mormon Church. Christianist Hypocrisy

You're absolutely correct! But then if we think about it, the bible has always been used for hatred and keeping the downtrodden down, the glbt are just the newest members of a long and illustrious fraternity.
In the Victorian age, the bible was used to decry the use of pain relievers for women in childbirth! And was used to fight against legal rights for women. Used to keep the Irish turned away at the door, to keep the Chinese out of places, out of our country, and the blacks from achieving their civil rights. After glbt receive their civil rights, who will their spotlight of hate turn on next?
I think that Christ would be appalled by the institutions of prejudice that have been built in his name. His so called "followers" would only want to crucify him again because he's waaay too liberal.
