McDonnell and Kookinelli Run Afoul of Voting Rights Act

OMG! It's one embarrassment after another under the three stooges regime of Taliban Bob and Ken Kookinelli. We Virginians have been subjected to first the anti-gay debacle launched by Kookinelli, net we had the "Confederate History" debacle, recently, we saw MCDonnell's transgender ex-sister in-law speak out at a gay rights rally in Richmond, and now we have the McDonnell/Kookinelli agenda to keep [black] ex-felons disqualified to vote. It is a sad day that Virginia has descended from the glory days of Thomas Jefferson and the other founding fathers from Virginia to a bunch of religious extremist boobs. Stated another way, while much of the world has embraced the Enlightenment intellectualism of Jefferson, Virginia under McDonnell and Kookinelli has back slided to a glorification of the Confederacy and the Jim Crow laws that disenfranchised black Americans. The trouble is that Kookinelli - who thinks he knows all things on all subjects - failed to remind McDonnell of the inconvenient fact that federal law trumps state law and a little thing called the Voting Rights Act takes precedent over the GOP effort to keep black former felons - i.e., those likely to vote Democrat - disqualified from voting. The Washington Post has coverage on McDonnell's latest adventure in figuratively stepping in dog s*hit. Here are some highlights:
*
The Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under Law has written a letter to Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli (R) to ask why Virginia has not obtained preclearance under the federal Voting Rights Act to implement changes to the state's process to allow felons to get their voting rights restored.
*
Virginia...may not implement any change in a 'voting qualification or prequalification or prerequisite to voting, or standard, practice, or procedure with respect to voting' unless and until preclearance is obtained from either the United States Attorney General or the United States District Court for the District of Columbia," the letter states.
*
The attorney general's office did respond to a request for comment.

*
I hate to say it, but not only is Kookinelli crazy, but he's an idiot to boot. The full letter calling him out can be read here. One can only hope that sometime soon Kookinelli will so over step the line that he ends up removed from office.

"Your" boys seem to believe states(or at least Virginia) can nullify federal laws at will. They are wasting Virginia taxpayer finds, which should be of local interest there.
