I have often said that if one follows various far right blogs and organizations like Family Research Council and the American Family Association, one will observe a subtle racist message being disseminated, particularly against Hispanics. Usually, the GOP and its wingnuts have better judgment than to outright state what they truly believe. No so for one GOP councilman in California who has created controversy and forced GOP candidate for governor, Meg Whitman, to have to publicly act to try to distance herself from the actual mindset of much of the GOP base. Regardless of what disingenuous statements the GOP may make, the party is increasingly reserved only for white conservative Christians. Here are some highlights from the Washington Post:
*
SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Republican gubernatorial hopeful Meg Whitman is severing ties with an elected official who described himself as a "proud racist."
*
The Whitman campaign issued a statement Saturday disavowing Santa Clarita Councilman Bob Kellar. The statement comes one day after state Democrats called on the former eBay chief executive to distance herself from Kellar. During a recent Tea Party-style rally in Southern California, Kellar blamed illegal immigrants for harming the economy. His videotaped remarks were posted on YouTube and caused an uproar.
*
Whitman's campaign spokeswoman Sarah Pompei says Kellar's comments are unacceptable. She says Kellar has voluntarily ended his involvement with the campaign. Kellar has said he has no regrets over the remark.

One has to wonder when blacks and Hispanics will stop believing the bull crap put out that the GOP accepts anyone other than an increasing delusional element in most areas.
