Evidence of Sarah Palin's Religious Extremism Continues to Come Out

UPDATED: McSenile is disputing that Sarah Palin ever belonged to the Alaska branch of the America Constitution Party. However, it is clear that Palin's church appears to be ultra far right (I will cover this in a later post) and that her husband belonged to the Constitution party as reported by TPMmuckraker:
*
This afternoon, the director of Division of Elections in Alaska, Gail Fenumiai, told TPMmuckraker that Todd Palin registered in October 1995 to the Alaska Independence Party, a radical group that advocates for Alaskan secession from the United States. Besides a short period of a few months in 2000 when he changed his registration to undeclared, Todd Palin remained a registered member of AIP until July 2002 when he registered again as an undeclared voter.
*
In addition to being utterly unqualified for the office of Vice President, much less potentially of president given McSenile's health and age, Sarah Palin is looking more and more like a far right Christian Reconstructionist. This is a HUGE deal because the Christian Reconstructionists want to amend the secular and criminal laws to mirror their extremist Biblical views. For LGBT citizens, if carried to its full implementation would mean imprisionment and/or execution. These folks are truly the Christian equivalent of the Taliban or the mullahs currently running Iran. Here's a highlight from the American Prospect:
*
Turns out that the Alaskan Independence Party is also the Alaskan affiliate of the American Constitution Party, which is basically a third party that demands the institution of a Christian theocracy (Goal: "to restore American jurisprudence to its original Biblical common-law foundations.") This sort of makes sense, as Palin's political views suggest much more affinity for the far religious right than for secession movements.
*
It will be interesting to see whether or not Palin's selection as McSenile's running mate will finally wake up gays who say they will vote for John McCain. Here are a few highlights from the Constitution Party's party platform that impact LGBT citizens (reading them, you can see why the GOP base loves Palin):
*
The law of our Creator defines marriage as the union between one man and one woman. The marriage covenant is the foundation of the family, and the family is fundamental in the maintenance of a stable, healthy and prosperous social order. No government may legitimately authorize or define marriage or family relations contrary to what God has instituted.
*
We oppose all efforts to impose a new sexual legal order through the federal court system. We stand against so-called "sexual orientation" and "hate crime" statutes that attempt to legitimize inappropriate sexual behavior and to stifle public resistance to its expression. We oppose government funding of "partner" benefits for unmarried individuals. Finally, we oppose any legal recognition of homosexual unions.
*
We affirm the value of the father and the mother in the home, and we oppose efforts to legalize adoption of children by homosexual singles or couples.
*
Lastly, here's what Daddy Dobson had to say about Palin - Dobson's endorsement ought to be proof to rational voters that Palin is suspect:
*
Focus on the Family founder James Dobson, who initially said he could not vote for McCain but has since opened the door to an endorsement, called Palin "an outstanding choice that should be extremely reassuring to the conservative base" of the GOP.

Michael: I think all of this spectacle - the selection by McCain of Sarah Palin - must be some sort of test to see just how much abuse the American public will take. Either that or it's a test of how many people know the definion of irony. Or Satire. Or Cynicism.

Or maybe it's just an indication of the calber of candidates the Republicans have offered their followers the past few decades. What was McCain's class ranking?
