Fake Chick-fil-A Flyer Highlights Comany's Anti-Gay Ties

I have written a number of times about the large sums of money given by affiliates of the owners of Chick-fil-A to virulently anti-gay groups. And recently, Chick-fil-A found itself not welcome at Northeastern University because of its largess to anti-gay Christianist organizations. Now in New York City, some enterprising individuals have caused an uproar by distributing bogus "help wanted" flyers that high light the far right extremism of Chick-fil-A affilaites. Needless to say, Chick-fil-A has its panties in a major wad. Gay Star News looks at Chick-fil-A's reaction to details in the flyer that reflect things that have been reported about the company:

After a homophobic flyer advertising jobs at the New York University's Chick-Fil-A restaurant sparked outrage across the internet, the company has taken to its social networking pages to deny any involvement.

The flyer, which appears innocent enough at first glance, caused offense due to the fine print:

'Remember Chick-Fil-A is a Christian company. We strive to have our values reflected in our employees. Please be prepared to discuss your religion, family history, personal relationships, etc., upon interviewing. Chick-Fil-A reserves the right to question, in detail, your sexual relationship history. The Bible and Chick-Fil-A define a traditional relationship as consisting of a man and woman. Anyone living a life of sin need not apply. The Chick-Fil-A foundation. God, Family, Tradition.'

Writing on their Facebook wall, Chick-Fil-A have responded to the flyers, saying: 'We're aware of a fake and inappropriate flyer that is circulating the web right now. We can assure you that this was not created or distributed by any Chick-fil-A Restaurant or any of its independent Operators.'

The hoax was likely created in retaliation to a recent report which revealed that the fast food chain had given donations to organisations which promote anti-gay agendas.

Rather than engaging in continued damage control and seeing itself barred from campuses, the easy solution would be for members of the Cathy family (who own Chick-fil-A) to simply stop funding anti-gay organizations. Yes, it's their right to do so, but it's also the right of others to point out their religious based bigotry and nasty organizations they fund. I stopped patronizing Chick-fil-A years ago. I'd burn my money before I gave it to a company owned by anti-gay zealots.
