Of all the policies that Barack Obama claimed to support changing while campaigning - yet has not delivered on whatsoever since his election - the one that perhaps drives me the most crazy is the Don't Ask, Don't Tell. It is anti-gay bigotry at its worse and is based 100% on Christian fundamentalist religious views, something that is/ought to be unconstitutional in and of itself. What particularly maddens me is that thousands of LGBT Americans are already serving in the military. Sadly, they have to live secret lives and live in constant fear of being caught up in a witch hunt launched either by a religious bigot or some disgruntled service member. It is a travesty underscored by the many military personnel who I know that serve honorably.

Indeed, at the political function last night there were several retired gay military officers who were decorated and never did anything but serve their country to their highest ability. Obama continues to forfeit the lives and careers of these members of the military so that Christianist nutcases like Elaine Donnelly can get off discriminating against LGBT Americans. Fortunately, Rachel Madow is continuing the strive to expose the unfairness and bigotry of DADT. Last night she featured former Secretary of the Army Clifford Alexander pictured above), who did not mince his words. Here are highlights from Towleroad:

Rachel Maddow is sticking to her coverage of 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell'. Last night she hosted former Secretary of the Army Clifford Alexander, who laid into those objecting to the repeal of the military gay ban.

Says Alexander: "The hypocrisy of this is that you ask people to act as if they are not what they are. I said at one point that it's a little like asking a Jewish person to pretend to be a Muslim during his or her service, or during life generally...The no-necks who keep pushing this policy really need to have it changed, not studied, not long hearings, but changed. And it needs legislation, it needs people in the House and the Senate to come forward and say this is time to make America be what America says it is."

Maddow then mentions what the Palm Center concluded, that the President can sign an executive order to halt discharges.

Obama needs to either grow some balls and act NOW via an executive order or admit that he cynically lied to gays about his stand on DADT and perhaps much more.

"Dish"? Do you mean "diss"?
I think it is time to become a "squeaky wheel" for the Democratic legislative and executive branches and just got a fund-raising letter that I'm replying to NOT with a check.
