Marco Rubio who to date has shown few limits to how low he will go in prostituting himself to spittle flecked Christofascists committed an unforgivable mortal sin today when he said on CBS's "Face the Nation" that sexual orientation is something one is born with. He then tried to immediately have it both ways by stating that even though sexual orientation is not a choice, marriage should nonetheless be limited to heterosexual couples. Obviously, he cannot have it both ways and some of the usual suspects of the far right "Christian" hate machine are having apoplexy. A case in point? AFA's Bryan Fischer ranted that Rubio was putting sexuality on the same level as race and was, therefore "not the guy" for the GOP. The Christofascist realize that once sexual orientation is accepted as inborn and immutable - notwithstanding the stories of religiously tortured ex-gays for pay - they have fully lost the culture war on gay rights. Marco Rubio said Sunday that he believes sexual orientation isn't a choice, but he is opposed to courts deciding on marriage for same-sex couples.
"I believe that sexual preference is something that people are born with," he said on CBS's "Face the Nation."
Rubio also said that he believes marriage should be "between one man and one woman" but insisted "it's not that I'm against gay marriage."
"States have always regulated marriage, and if a state wants to have a different definition, you should petition the state legislature and have a political debate," he said. "I don't think courts should be making that decision, and I don't believe same-sex marriage is a constitutional right."
