Santorum Wants to Invalidate All Same Sex Marriages

The race to see which of the GOP presidential nominee candidate clown car occupants can be the most anti-gay continues in the run up to the Iowa caucuses. In his latest attempt to give the Christianists the political equivalent of fellatio, Rick "Frothy Mix" Santorum has announced that he wants passage of an amendment to the United States Constitution that would not only ban all future same sex marriages but also invalidate all those that have been legally contracted to date. I guess Santorum hasn't been told that "ex-post facto" laws are unconstitutional if they seek to undo vested legal rights. The Advocate looks at Santorum's latest effort to pander to the Chrstianist/Tea Party base of the GOP. Here are some highlights:

While Rick Santorum continues to jostle for third place in the Iowa polls, his recent remarks on MSNBC are making Mitt Romney look positively progressive. While Romney suggested a three-tier system for marriage (which would allow existing same-sex marriages to be recognized but forbid future ones from happening), Santorum told Chuck Todd that marriage "marriage has to be one thing for everybody.

And of those same-sex marriages that are currently legal? "Well, their marriage would be invalid," Santorum said. "I think if the constitution says 'marriage is this,' then people whose marriage is not consistent with the constitution… I’d love to think there’s another way of doing it."

According to Think Progress, Santorum, also likened same-sex marriages to having an aunt or a friend, said that he supports a federal constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage and invalidating all currently legal same-sex unions, and that “same-sex couples can contract for everything” except government benefits.

As noted before on this blog, studies have found that homophobes are the most sexually aroused by gay porn based on penile engorgement measurement while the subject is watching the pornography. I'd love to see Santorum challenged to have his arousal to gay porn measured in this scientific manner. I suspect we all know what the result would be. As does Santorum in his heart if he could but let go of his religious brainwashing. Oh, and as for all the children he has fathered, what better way to try to convince yourself that you don't lust for men.
