With the Trump/Pence regime waging war against transgender individuals and trying to define them out of existence under federal law it is perfect timing for Katie Couric and National Geographic Channel to re-released their popular 2017 production of "Gender
Revolution." The production - which looks at the science and biology behind why some are born transgender - is available to all for free streaming on two
popular platforms, their own Nat Geo, as well as YouTube (links to both are set out below).
For those unfamiliar with the documentary, it is a powerful, sensitive, honest and accurate representation of transgender and intersex people in their own voices - and provides clarity and focus about gender identity in significant ways. It puts the lie to so much of the ugly and cruel distortions and fabrications made by the Trump/Pence regime over the past two years.
The takeaway is that no one chooses to be transgender - just as no one chooses to be gay or lesbian. There is legitimate science and medical knowledge - things ignored by Trump/Pence, most of the GOP and evangelical Christians - that demonstrates that all must be treated equally and with dignity.
