Marco Rubio Heckled By Tea Partiers Over Immigration Reform

Perhaps I am perverse, but I find some sense of satisfaction seeing those who rode the Tea Party train of greed and bigotry to office suddenly find themselves the targets of the mob of haters, white supremacists and knuckle dragging Neanderthals who comprise the Tea Party.  One such politician who is increasingly finding himself the target of the wrath of these less than nice people is Marco Rubio.  At a recent Tea Party event funded by the Koch brothers (who seek to return America to the inequalities of the Gilded Age), Rubio caught the full wrath of the monster he helped create and previously pandered to.  Here are highlights from Americans Against the Tea Party:

Spend your life feeding a beast made of hate, expecting it to love you, and it’s your life to waste. That’s the lesson that Marco Rubio came away with at this weekend’s Koch-funded “Defending the American Dream” teabagger orgy.

Sponsors include the Koch Brothers’ Americans for prosperity, tobacco kings Altria and a marketing firm. Speakers include Ted Cruz, Bobby Jindal, Rick Perry, and those ever-present sources of Floridian pride, Rick Scott and Marco Rubio. Tickets are about three times the cost of a normal daily ticket for Universal, mostly to keep poor, brown people out.

Unfortunately for Rubio, his home-field advantage didn’t quite offset his familial brown-ness, because Rubio was roundly heckled and booed during his speech by the Klan in attendance. As Rubio walked to the lectern, before he had spoken a word, a brotherhood of Christian soldiers began shouting:  “No Amnesty!  No AMNESTY!!”

And things only got worse from there. With negative public momentum swimming over the Rio Grande of his prepared speech, the crowd’s boos and heckles followed him all the way through his otherwise party-line speech on shutting down the government rather than fund Obamacare.

Of course, it’s not as though Rubio was doing anything but toeing the Koch party line. Little-known to many, the Kochs have always been in favor of amnesty . . . . it’s worth remembering that their support of amnesty has nothing to do with any altruistic interpretation of the American Dream. The Kochs support amnesty solely because it means an influx of cheap labor.

But prima fascia, Rubio’s still pulling the Koch Party line, whether his Teaslave base knows it or not. Teabaggers don’t get told anything they don’t need to know to pick the Kochs’ cotton, so these kinds of misunderstanding are bound to happen. For that reason, this is hardly going to hurt Rubio over the long-term. The Kochs selected him to advance their amnesty agenda specifically because of his ethnicity, so a certain amount of blow-back was inevitable.

But we can at least gain some solace from the fact that for a few glorious moments, Rubio got a little taste of the hate that he works so tirelessly to advance. If he were capable of looking past his bank account long enough to see a lesson here, it would be this:

You can do the massa’s bidding all you want, Marco. You can feed that beast the bones of everyone you ever loved, and hope that someday it will love you in return. But never forget what the Koch brothers and those like them REALLY think — as long as your skin is brown, your ass better know its role.  Boy.
The GOP has created a Frankenstein monster and I suspect that even the Koch brothers may not be able to control it despite their greed and hubris.
