A number of surveys have shown that there is something like an 85% overlap between members of the Tea Party crowd and the Christian Right. This correlation appears borne out by the twitter messages issued by the Southwest Tea Party in support of the gay haters at Chick fil-A. The animus towards gays is palpable. It's little wonder that the millennial generation are fleeing from the Christian brand in record numbers. As note many times before, nowadays conservative Christians are best known for their hate and intolerance towards others. That's not exactly the message Christ's gospel message sought to engender.
