Sex Abuse Alleged in Choir Run By Pope Benedict's Brother

The sex abuse scandal in the German Catholic Church continues to grow and has spread to the Regensburger Domspatzen, Germany's leading Roman Catholic boy' choir that was led for 30 years by the brother of Pope Benedict XVI. Georg Ratzinger (pictured at left) says he is totally unaware of sexual improprieties during the 30 years that he headed up the choir. I am currently finishing reading a book that involves priestly sexual abuse and the sexual dissonance prevalent among priests due to the Church's teaching that all sex is basically dirty and sinful which conflicts with normal sexual impulses. Yes, sexual abuse of minors is not limited to Catholic priests, but I do believe that sick obsession with all things sexual makes for very psychologically damaged individuals. It took literally years for me to get over the damage I experienced growing up Catholic. Obviously, it will be interesting to see where the scandal involving the Regensburger Domspatzen leads. Here are some highlights from Google News:
*
VATICAN CITY — The Vatican says it supports efforts in a German diocese to shed light on a sexual abuse scandal in a choir once led by Pope Benedict XVI's brother.

The Regensburg Diocese said this week that a former member claims he was abused while singing with Germany's leading Roman Catholic boys' choir. The choir was led for 30 years by the Rev. Georg Ratzinger, the pope's brother. Ratzinger told a German public radio (radio Bayerischer Rundfunk) he did not know of any abuse cases at the choir.
