Why Christianists Really Fear Legalized Gay Marriage

A number of other bloggers have great coverage on the gathering of loons and sheeple at San Diego's Qualcomm stadium, Pam's House Blend being but one of them. While all the shrieking and crocodile tears are about "saving marriage" - which if indeed threatened, is threatened by divorce, Christianist supported economic policies that put terrible financial strains on families and other factors, but not same sex marriage - what James Dobson and others really are trying to save is their anti-gay agenda which is a cash cow for the professional Christianist set.

With fund raising dropping from the anti-abortion platform - I think many people even among the Kool-Aid drinker set are just plain exhausted after all these years - and most people not obsessed with the Christianist fixation on pornography, "the gays" have been a great and much needed financial boon. Holding themselves out as the guardians against the "Gay Agenda" has made many of the professional Christians very comfortable indeed financially. Cruise their organizations' websites and it is easy to see that we gays and our "agenda" to allegedly overthrow western civilization take up a disproportionate amount of their efforts and coverage.

So why is passage Proposition 8 so critical to the Christianists? Because if California with roughly one-tenth of the population of the USA continues to have gay marriage and the world doesn't end, then the anti-gay marriage financial gravy train will be over. True, not immediately, but eventually most of the country will become indifferent and the ability of the Christianists to whip the ignorant into a frenzy - including a frenzy of online donations and checks - will be a thing of the past. If Proposition 8 passes, then the James Dobsons of the far right know that the march for gay equality will take longer and offer them more time to fleece the sheeple. Likewise, if Proposition 8 fails, they will lose the ability to point out that even the civil laws recognize that gays are inferior. When this happens, James Dobson, Tony Perkins and like minded haters will see a BIG drop in revenue in terms of direct donations and in terms of monies flowing in from the bogus "ex-gay" programs.

In short, these people are fighting for their financial lives. Saving marriage has nothing really to do with it except to shake loose lots of financial contributions. They are truly sick and warped people. They are the modern day equivalents of the money lenders in the Temple.

If Prop 8 passes, I fear the rise of the taliban in American under the guise of Christian values.
